Data Sovereignty

The idea that a jurisdiction could prevent or restrict processing and storage of data on systems that do not physically reside within that jurisdiction. The GDPR, for example, covers EU citizens not only in the EU, but also in the EAA. Data subjects can consent to allow a transfer of data, but there must be a meaningful option for them to refuse consent.
